A life too short,
A love never to be forgotten.

As a wee colt
we helped him stand
Gave him nourishment
from our own hands

As he grew in size
he glistened like pure gold
We knew it was our hearts
he would always hold

His tongue waggling
and his playful times
his hurried bites of feed
whinnies and cantering
for his mares to find

Though our dear boy
was taken from us too soon
He left a legacy that
will grow and bloom

As we sit on our porch and gaze
we are sure a million memories of our dear Cotton will brighten our days.
